JAKARTA, December 14, 2021 – PT Darma Henwa Tbk (DEWA) shows Company’s concern for victims of the eruption of Mount Semeru in Lumajang, East Java. In a humanitarian mission for victims of the Mount Semeru eruption, the Company sent an Emergency Response Team to the disaster site to assist in the search and rescue process.

Darma Henwa's Emergency Response Team was deployed from various mining project locations in Kalimantan. At the disaster site, the Emergency Response Team Darma Henwa joined a team from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) for Disaster Preparedness in handling areas affected by the eruption of Mount Semeru.

 

Darma Henwa's Emergency Response Team made thorough preparations before departure to areas affected by the eruption of Mount Semeru. The Company's team started the activity by preparing personal protective equipment as well as fulfilling the needs of medicine and wearable clothes for disaster victims.

 

Then at the location, the Darma Henwa team coordinated with the ESDM Disaster Preparedness Field Coordinator, carrying out sweeping activities in affected locations, searching and rescuing victims, operating heavy equipment for evacuation, evacuating items or household furniture that could still be saved, and distributing logistics to victims affected by the eruption of Mount Semeru.

 

"The Humanitarian Mission for the Mount Semeru Natural Disaster is the preparedness of the Darma Henwa team to assist the evacuation and rescue of victims. By having trained human resources in terms of rescue, Darma Henwa feels the need to participate in the ESDM Disaster Preparedness team," said Director of Darma Henwa ,Agus Efendi.

 

Overall, the search and rescue team for the victims of the Mount Semeru eruption was divided into 3 locations. The first team searched at Dusun Kajar Kuning and Dusun Curah Kobokan. Then the second team conducted a search in the H. Satuhan Sand Mine area, and the third team in Dusun Kebondeli and Renteng Village. Meanwhile, Darma Henwa is part of the third team which tasked with conducting searches in Dusun Kebondeli and Renteng Village.

 

Mount Semeru erupted on Saturday, (4/12). From the data collected, the eruption of Mount Semeru affected 2,417.2 hectares of land and caused damage to forests, open land, agricultural land, plantations, housing, and water bodies.
