The company was previously 95% owned by a large Australian mining services company, but they sold their shares in May 2005 to allow them in consolidating their business.

The majority of the shares in the company are owned by Zurich Assets International Ltd, a financial investment company based in the Seychelles.

What does the main business of the Company?

The Company’s business lines are engaged into general mining contractor services  and plant maintenance equipment.

What mining projects have been completed by the Company?

Up to 2009 Darma Henwa has completed the contracts at several mining projects, including the Petangis project (South Kalimantan), Gold mining project (Wetar Island), Wanagon Lake and Tunnel (Papua), Kelian project (East Kalimantan), Copper Batu Hijau project (Sumbawa island), and Coal mining (Busang), etc. Currently, the Company  have contracts in Bengalon Coal Mining and Asam Asam Coal Mining.

What type of mining services can you provide ?
Construction, Mining and Marketing. We are also have subsidiary for Power Generation.

Are you tied to any particular supplier of mining equipment ?
In conducting its operations, the company is free to use equipments from any suppliers or manufacturers. Currently, many reputable brands such  as Hitachi, Komatsu, Caterpillar, Liebherr, and Terex support  the Company’s complete mining fleet of excavators, dump trucks, bulldozers, loaders, and graders.

Are you ISO certified ?

Darma Henwa have certification of ISO 9001::2008 in Quality, ISO 14001:2004 in Environmental, and OHSAS 18001:2007 in Occupational Health and Safety.

Do you plan to expand your business overseas ?
Yes, in line with our mission “To be preferred regional integrated mining services company”, there is a possibility that the company will eventually expand its operations overseas. However, there are still a lot of work and opportunities in Indonesia to support our expansion over the next 5-10 years.

How is the prospect of coal mining industry in Indonesia?

Coal mining industry in Indonesia is still prospective. Especially if we look at the Indonesian government plan to build 10,000 megawatts electricity power to support the growth of industry. Regarding the limited supply of oil and gas and its prices that always hike, the alternative to use coal as an alternative energy resources is rise.

What factors that can increase coal price in Indonesia?
Many factors can affect to the coal price. First of all, the price of oil and gas always hike in recent years. As a result, demand of coal as an affordable alternative energy is rise. In global market, the demand of coal increases due to growth of economy in many countries, such as Japan, Korea, and China. As we know, China is the highest importer country of coal from Indonesia. In domestic market, there also still high demand of coal to fulfill the needs of 10,000 megawatts electricity power.

Is there any correlation between the Company’s performance and the fluctuation of price of coal?

The Company’s business as a mining contractor, and its performance depends on the productivity, not the fluctuation of price of coal.  

Why are your annual financial accounts shown in US dollars ?
Although we are domiciled in Indonesia, the majority of our investment is in heavy mining equipment, and the majority of our sales revenue is mainly in transacted in US dollars. In these circumstances, the Government permits US dollars accounting, however all our payroll, local purchase and taxes are still transacted in Rupiah.

How does the Company interact with its communities?
The Company commits to develop communities surrounding its sites with many Corporate Social Responsibility activities. In this way, Company can create good relationships with its communities that eventually can support Company’s business.
